Things I'd Like More Of

Wednesday, 18 January 2017

Hey everyone! And Happy Wednesday! How are you?

I'd originally planned to get this post up for Monday, but after a tough couple of days that left me not even feeling human, never mind optimistic, I decided it was best for me to check out for a day or two.

Today could well be a tough long day for me again, so I'm glad I took that time to regain my strength.

But enough of that cryptic negativity. Last week I posted a list of things I want less of in 2017. It's always tempting with any type of declutter to refill any newly discovered space with more stuff so I thought it was important to take a moment and think about what I want more of this year. I don't want my time, space, and energy taken up with things just for the sake of it, I want to make sure I'm using all my new found room for the things in life that truly make me happy.

So without further ado, here is a list of things I'd like more of this year.

M O R E  P L E A S E

. Trips To The Theatre I'm in the very fortunate position of getting to see one or two shows a month for 10 months of the year for work! So I know you must be thinking how can you possibly want to see MORE theatre? But the fact is that I can count the shows I saw for FUN on one hand! Yes I enjoyed a lot of the things I saw for work - but work events usually involve me working which means I just can't loose myself in the world created on stage in the same way. This year I want to make an effort to see shows I want to see. In particularI'd like to see a BIG show, one of the ones people can't believe I haven't already seen.

. Focus, Intention & Discipline I've been working on this a lot already this year but this year I want to really work on being the type of person that not only says they are going to do something but that actually does it, and to the best of her abilities. I'm not lazy, by any means, but I do have a habit of taking on too much, becoming over whelemed, and then panicking. Hopefully as I get more intentional about the things I want to focus on, the determination will come naturally!

. Braveness You might remember that being brave was my word for the month back in September. This is something I'd really like to push further this year.  I want to challenge myself to try new things, both at work and in my personal life. The Young Man has made it a goal of his to jump ff or out of something high this year, joining him would be a big win over my fear of heights!

. Kindness I like to think I'm a good person, but there is always room for improvement. In particular this uear I'd like to find a cause and charity to really get behind - I already support charities in general but I don't have one that is really close to my heart. And I'm also going to look out for those small ways I can help make somebodies day, helping some one with their bags, warning people that there's ice up ahead, or just offering a compliment to a stranger.

. Engagement Most of you who are reading this are probably bloggers and most of you have probably noticed that this is a bit of a buzz word in the blogging community at the moment. I too want to jump on that band wagon wth my blog and focus more on real connections than follower numbers, but I also want to apply this to my offline life too. I want more deep conversations that run late into the night with friends. I want to carve out time to speak to my family, my friends far away and get to know thos people I see every day just that bit better.

. Offline Days Speaking of my offline days I'd like more days without my phone, social media, tv screen etc. More days listening to the radio, reading books, writing, people watching. Days where I switch off either to make more of the time I'm spending with loved ones or to spend time with my own mind.

. Saving This is something I REALLY need to sort out this year! Especially as my freelance work has moved away from one off days that give me a little bit of extra pocket money to big projects with appropriately sized pay cheques. It's a great feeling to look how much I've earnt working for myself, it's not so much of a great feeling when I realise I'm not entirely sure where that money has gone!

. Learning I want to always be somebody who is continuing to learn. I want to get better at my job, my writing, performance and my photography, but I also want to learn new stuff. Whether that's signing up for a one day course in woodwork or redownloading Memrise and polishing off my language skills. This goes back to being more focused, less time spent on Netflix more time spent on myself.

. Experimentation This goes along with being brave, but I'm thinking particularly in relation to my blog. I want this to be a place where I try and test things out whether that's hair extensions and outfit posts or documenting a how to that went incredibly wrong. Not everything has to be perfect or even stick, but wouldn't it just be fun to try?

What would you like to see more of this year? As always let me know in the comments below! x
